B.B.A Minor in Political Science Course Listing

 

The classes below represent the selected topics in receiving a minor in Political Science while obtaining a Bachelors in Business Administration degree from East Tennessee State University.  The emphasis of learning was placed policy and procedures of governments and organizations impact people from a political stance in domestic and global affairs. 

 

  • Law and Judicial Process - An overview of the political and philosophical principles underlying the American legal system. (Click here for Appendix 10: Boundaries of Governmental Systems). Class utilized textbook Judicial Process in America by Robber A. Camp and Ronald Stidham and Labor Law, Industrial Relations, and Employee Choice by Richard N. Block, John Beck, and Daniel H. Kruger.
  • International Relations - An introduction to the study of the relations between states, politics, diplomacy, international law, and organization; an analysis of the theory and practice of international relations. Class utilized textbook Janus and Minerva: Essays in the Theory and Practice of International Politics by Stanley Hoffmann and One World, Ready or Not by William Greider.
  • American Policy Process - A study of the roles of Congress, the Presidency, and the bureaucracy in national policy-making. (Click here for Appendix 9: What Is Government's Role in Business?) Class utilized textbook Conflict After the Cold War: Arguments on Cause of War and Peace by Richard Betts, Reclaiming Prosperity by Todd Schafer and Jeff Faux, and Man, the State, and War by Kenneth N. Waltz
  • Special Topic in Political Science - In-depth study of Law v. Life, authored by Walt Bachman. Major concentration topic based up on the dilemmas of the legalization of America. Class utilized textbook Law vs.. Life by Walt Bachman.
