Electrolux, LLC

Nested in the hills of Bristol, Virginia, Electrolux, LLC provided a state of the art manufacturing site for vacuum cleaner production. With over 500 manufacturing associates, management proceeded to relocate many corporate headquarter functions to the manufacturing site from Atlanta, Georgia.

Joining in November, 1998 as sales incentive support personnel in the role of Contest Clerk II position, our first objective was to transfer the duties of this department to the Bristol manufacturing site.  The departmental duties involved information management to various corporate divisions for distribution of the prizes earned by sales representatives and division managers.

The list below outlines noteworthy accomplishments that were performed during this time:

  • Routine job functions required management of the departmental $10M budget in addition to eight division manager expense accounts in US and Canadian funds preventing budget deficits for the Contest Division data to be utilized by the Vice-President of Sales/Marketing and Vice-President of Operations for the US and Canadian divisions
  • Achieved a $10K reduction in eight division manager expense accounts with a $300K annual budget
  • Reconciled the Sales Division contract reports to inventory, accounts payable, and payroll division records using Millennium Software Company?s custom designed software for the mainframe network structure
  • Responsible to post the prizes awarded to wages for Social Security tax purposes, and Canadian GST tax for Canadian payroll tax purposes
  • Liaison person for Information Technology, Payroll, Purchasing, and Contract Divisions regarding data analysis, input, design, and process management
  • Team player in conflict issues concerning system integration to Microsoft Excel as previous data activity was processed using Lotus 1-2-3 (DOS version)
  • Customized MS Access template to monitor division sales manager expense accounts
  • Challenges from new contest designs required the integration of a more sophisticated data analysis reporting measures for greater accuracy and promptness of award prizes through joint effort with IT Department to restructure MAS90 and MS Access reports

- Will Rogers

There is something precious in our being mysteries to ourselves, in our being unable ever to see through even the person who is closest to our heart and to reckon with him as though he were a logical proposition or a problem in accounting"
